Factions in Whitechapel

Dear Diary,

What kind of odd creatures will the characters be confronted with?
Will they be friends, allies, or enemies ?

Here a list of list of the factions in Whitechapel for Into London:

I use a 2Dx result for the random encounters, so that the average results are encountered more often. With this I try to emulate the fact that this is a very big faction or that this faction is on it's home turf.
2D6
Faction
2
Lord of the Bats (hooded man going to cribs to nourish his bats with eyes of kids)
3
Ghost carnival (only at night – move from cemetery to cemetery while singing)
4
Zoog (wererats – transform into giant anthropomorphic rats when underground)
5
Sons of the Piper (poor, working class looking, plague lovers) (Details here)
6
Catacomb Runners (street children) (Details here)
7
Hospitaller Order of Dunwich (Priests wearing swords and pistol) (Details here)
8
Nulla Corvi (doctors wearing raven-masks) (Details here)
9
Bow Street Runners (police force wearing civilian clothes) (Details here)
10
Ordo Mechanicus (augmented with metallic prosthetics) (Details here)
11
Isfet (cats – can speak but don't – pray to Bastet)
12
Snake-Oil Peddler (He might sell something useful or even arcane-ish)

I'll make a new diary entry for each of these factions.

Sources:

  • Isfet & Zoog are factions in the french translation of Into the ODD and were originally published in "Everyday is Halloween"
  • Bow Street Runner are historical
  • Lord of the Bats is an adaptation of the "Ombre-corbeaux" from Into the Evil (part of the french ITO kickstarter)
  • Hospitaller Order of Dunwich is an historical reference mixed with lovecraftian mythos
